The summer solstice just passed. Days are longer and summer is finally here. Time to get outside and enjoy that sun (with the proper protection, of course), whether you're in your backyard gardening or having a fun day at the beach or on an adventure in the woods. We've got everything you need from natural sunblock to energy and memory boosting supplements, so you can have an amazing summer.
Get set for summer with these top picks:
1. If you're feeling a little low energy leading up to summer, you may need extra iron. It's a really common deficiency, and while it's important to get iron-rich foods in your diet, some folks just need a boost from supplements. Try American Supplements Iron Health, made specially for women with 16 iron-supporting nutrients.
2. Need a boost for building muscle this summer? Beta-alanine is an amino acid that may help with muscle building and recovery, and American Supplements has created a slow release formula for better absorption.
3. Of course, you'll need the perfect natural sun screen that you can throw in your bag and go. For this, we love
Badger SPF 30 Mineral Sunscreen - a non-greasy moisturizing formula just right for everyday use.
4. But, if you forget the sunscreen, you can use castor oil to help sooth sunburn and other inflamed skin. It's also an excellent moisturizer and can be used on lips, nails and cuticles.
5. Lion's Maine mushrooms are prized for their anti-inflammatory properties and ability to help boost memory and focus. If you're looking to give it a go this summer try Host Defense Lion's Maine extract.
6. It can be tough to get kiddos to take their multivitamins and set them up to get all the nutrients they need to stay healthy and energetic all summer long. For a tasty liquid alternative, try Nature's plus Animal Parade Gold Multivitamin in tropical berry flavor.
7. Not only is fiber essential for keeping your digestive system regular, it feeds healthy microbes in your gut that help you do all kinds of things from fighting inflammation to boosting immunity to improving mood. Vita Flora has created a unique formula of fiber from 35 different prebiotic sources to ensure your gut is happy and healthy.
8. If you need a little help after hitting the trail or surfing waves, try Boiron Arnicare roll-on to help sooth those sore muscles.

Summer Superfoods: 5 Super Healthy Seasonal Fruits and Veggies
Summer is the perfect time to enjoy fresh, nutrient-rich fruits and vegetables. These seasonal superfoods are not only delicious but also provide essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to keep you energized and healthy during these warm summer months. Here are some of my favorite seasonal produce picks:
- Berries - are rich in antioxidants, vitamins C and K, and fiber. Berries help fight inflammation, improve heart health, and boost your immune system. Enjoy them fresh, in smoothies, or as a topping for yogurt and salads.
- Tomatoes - are at their peak in summer. They are a great source of lycopene (when cooked), an antioxidant linked to reduced risk of heart disease and cancer. Tomatoes also provide vitamins C and A, potassium and folate. Use them in salads, sauces, or simply enjoy them sliced with a drizzle of olive oil and salt.
- Watermelon - is the quintessential summer fruit, and as a bonus it helps with hydration with its high water content. It's packed with vitamins A, B6, and C, as well as antioxidants like lycopene. Enjoy it as a refreshing snack, in salads or blended into a home-made agua fresca.
- Zucchini - is versatile and nutrient-dense, and includes vitamin C, manganese, and fiber. Grill, sauté or bake it into bread and muffins.
- Peaches - some of the sweetest perks of the season, peaches are packed with vitamins A and C, potassium, and fiber. They can improve digestion and support skin health. Enjoy them fresh, grilled or as a topping for oatmeal.
Superfoods don't have to be fancy, rare or exotic items. They can be grown in your own backyard or found at your local farmer's market. Get your dose of vitamins and antioxidants by incorporating these foods in your recipes this summer.
